At night it matters far less than the sensor: a 2.7K camera with a STARVIS 2 sensor will often read a plate better than a 4K camera with a cheap sensor, because low light performance and dynamic range are doing the work. Larger files also fill cards faster and take longer to transfer, so 4K has running costs.
